Cars opens in the final race of the Piston Cup with Lightning McQueen, The King and Chick Hicks battling it out for the championship. A tiebreaker race has to be planned and the Cars make their way along Route 66 to Los Angeles. Lightning McQueen is forced to stop and spend some time in Radiator Springs, where he befriends the locals, who then come to Los Angeles to help him in the final race. McQueen finished a hero due to his sportsmanship and returns to Radiator Springs to revitalise the town.
